Donna Beaver, Principal
Small Class Sizes
Our intentionally smaller school size ensures students receive the personal attention and care they need to succeed and grow. Our teachers provide the fundamentals for a rigorous academic career and make learning a joy.
Beginning in kindergarten, students enjoy a wide variety of specialist programs including art, music, computers, Spanish and PE.
Safety and Security
The safety of our students is our highest priority. The Gateway Eagles campus is fully locked during school hours, and each classroom is equipped with a lockdown mechanism. Our faculty and staff are trained in the ALICE method by Kitsap County sheriffs each year.
Spiritual education is fostered through Bible classes, Scripture memorization, and weekly chapels. Biblical principles are integrated throughout curriculum to instill a biblical worldview in students that celebrates the truth that there is a personal God who has created us, loves us and calls us to follow Him.
Rachel Dominy - Kindergarten
Shel Myers - Kindergarten
Mrs. Myers received her bachelor's degree from Eastern Washington University with an emphasis in Reading and Early Childhood Education. She has spent over 25 years teaching almost all of the elementary grades and also serving in the capacities of Helping Teacher, Title, and LAP. In addition, Mrs. Myers has served in children’s ministry as a Sunday school teacher and enjoyed being on committee for the Port Orchard Young Life organization for a time. Having come from the public school sector, she is beyond excited about the ability to teach her kinders about Jesus. Praying with her students is a highlight to her day and a key component to learning together in the classroom. As a Kindergarten teacher, her emphasis is teaching beginning readers to read and write while building relationships with her students. She considers teaching at Gateway to be such a blessing.
Brittany Healey - First Grade
Marina Mayfield - Second Grade
Mrs. Mayfield received her Bachelor of Arts in Educational Studies degree from Arizona State University and has spent over 5 years serving in both kids and youth ministry. She is also trilingual and has a passion to connect with children through American Sign Language and Spanish which she enjoys using as a teaching tool. When you get to know her, you will quickly learn God has given her a heart for building relationships with children and families. Mrs. Mayfield is excited to teach at Gateway in order to build those relationships within the community alongside a wonderful and caring team of teachers!
Kelsey Berg - Third Grade
Jennica Benkert - Fourth Grade
Mrs. Benkert has a Bachelor of Arts in English from Vanguard University and attended California Lutheran University for her teacher preparation program. Over the past 20 years, she has taught everything from preschool to high school English! Mrs. Benkert loves to incorporate physical activity in the classroom, and often you'll find her 4th graders learning a silly dance and song to remember a concept. They also enjoy hatching and raising live salmon, researching historical figures for the Wax Museum, and dropping eggs off the railing outside to test their STEM skills. Mrs. Benkert loves teaching at Gateway because of the family atmosphere, where she can show her students how much they are loved!
Bill Parrott - Fifth Grade
Mr. Parrott has spent nearly 50 years working with children, both in children's ministry and as a classroom teacher. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Liberty University and a Master of Arts in Education from Old Dominion University. He has a passion for teaching from a biblical worldview, and you'll often find him talking theology with his 5th graders. In his classroom, students start their day with praise & worship songs, solve mysteries, and politely laugh at his puns! Mr. Parrott loves teaching at Gateway because, along with his students, he can freely talk about math, science and history and the Creator of math, science and history!
