- Kathleen Mitchell, Director
Did you know that learning disabilities don't have to be permanent?
Ms. Mitchell is has been serving students since 2001 and has her bachelor’s degree from Cal-Poly, Pomona and her teaching credential from University of Redlands, California. In 2012, her passion for helping students with learning differences led her to become a certified Arrowsmith instructor and she became the director of the program in 2016. When Ms. Mitchell is not in the classroom, you can find her leading mission trips to Guatemala, helping those in need and spending time with her new grandchild.
Mrs. Spain has over 18 years of experience working in both public and private schools and providing social and emotional support for the most vulnerable in special education. The Arrowsmith program weaved together her love for neuroscience and passion for education, so she earned her certificate as an Arrowsmith Cognitive Instructor. You'll find her in her classroom working one-on-one with her students to support their cognitive excercises. She loves teaching Arrowsmith at Gateway because the program allows her to bring the cognitive and academic worlds together and create limitless opportunities for growth in students with learning difficulties!
